Job summary

The State of Vermont’s Agency of Transportation (VTrans) in Barre, VT, is seeking a Civil Engineer III - Structures to develop plans, specifications and estimates for bridge projects across the state, from scoping through contract completion. You will collaborate with hydraulics, geotechnical, and construction engineers to deliver robust designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field and 4 years of engineering experience.
• Or Associate degree and 6 years of engineering experience with Engineer Intern licensure.
• Open to State employees and external applicants.

Responsibilities

• Scoping Analysis - evaluate initial design concepts with stakeholders and meet regulatory requirements.
• Bridge Design - analyze superstructures, substructures, foundations, and retaining walls.
• Roadway Design - design horizontal/vertical alignments, superelevation, drainage, and erosion controls.
• CADD Model Design and Drafting - develop 3D roadway/bridge models and draft drawings.
• Collaboration - work with project managers, engineers, and planners across teams.
• Construction Documents - prepare reports, drawings, specs, and related docs.
