The University of Michigan-Dearborn CASL is seeking an Academic Advisor Intermediate to support undergraduate transfer students from orientation to graduation. The role includes advising on course selection, degree requirements, and campus resources, with a focus on accurate information and student success.

The position emphasizes advising for drop-in, in-person and virtual formats, with a mix of orientation support, petitions processing, and collaboration with Financial Aid.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
• Minimum of two years of advising/counseling or higher education administration experience.
• Strong oral and written communication with attention to detail.
• Ability to balance multiple tasks and work under peak-time pressure.
• Ability to work independently and show initiative.
• Positive, service-oriented approach and willingness to assist students.
• Willingness to learn new skills, technologies, and policies.
• Demonstrated energy, initiative, and integrity.

Responsibilities

• General academic advising for 300-350 undergraduate students.
• Meet with 8-10 students daily via in-person, virtual, phone, or drop-in appointments.
• Assist transfer students with academic orientation and audits.
• Coordinate petitions and degree audit exceptions as needed.
• Respond to student and staff inquiries via email.
