Job summary

Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) is seeking a Career Planner in Decorah, IA to provide career coaching and customer support at the IowaWORKS office. The role combines in-person service with hybrid telework options after six months, focusing on assisting job seekers and employers in the local market.

The Career Planner will coach job seekers, help tailor resumes, schedule mock interviews, and connect customers with relevant workshops and events while documenting interactions in the IowaWORKS

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree.
• Four years of full-time work experience in career services, teaching or training to improve skills.
• Total of four years of education and/or full-time experience with 30 semester hours = one year of experience.
• Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch as a Workforce Associate.

Responsibilities

• Provide courteous, respectful service to customers in all interactions.
• Ask customers appropriate questions to determine services needed.
• Collaborate with AJ Center staff to improve customer experience.
• Coach job seekers on resumes, cover letters, and mock interviews.
• Document all services and appointments in the database system.
• Refer customers to workshops and employment events and facilitate workshops.
