Job summary

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an Assistant CAD Operator 3, also known as a Distribution Designer/Drafter, with a flexible hybrid workplace policy reporting to the DuBois, PA office.

The role requires CAD experience, strong analytical thinking, and excellent communication skills, supporting distribution engineering and field personnel. Responsibilities include design, permitting, BOM development, and field surveys, with travel about 10%.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or six months related experience required.
• Basic AutoCAD knowledge.
• Knowledge of field survey and design processes.
• Ability to interpret surveys and property lines.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to distribution engineering and field personnel.
• Design and permit distribution lines, including drawing prep and BOM development.
• Meet with external customers on service requirements and design options.
• Perform survey and layout work in the field.
• Interpret boundary and topographic surveys, as-built and ROW staking.
• Initiate designs for new construction or improvements of distribution facilities.
• Inspect work to ensure compliance with design and NEC/NESC.
• Provide status updates to supervisors and customers.
• Follow local utility and construction standards.
