Job summary

Elanco is seeking a Sr. Associate / Consultant Formulation Scientist in Indianapolis to advance biologics formulations and drug product processes.

The role encompasses design, development, and optimization of sterile injectables and lyophilized products, partnering with downstream and analytical teams to enable clinical and commercial supply. The candidate will work in a regulated environment, applying biophysical methods, automation, and DoE to drive robust formulations and scalable processes

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field.
• 5–7+ years in formulation development of biologics or related biopharma products (MS: 3+).
• Hands-on experience with monoclonal antibodies, therapeutic proteins, peptides, or biologics.
• Familiarity with biophysical characterization (DSC, DLS, SEC) and chromatographic methods.
• Experience with lab automation and high‑throughput screening workflows.

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform early developability and pre‑formulation assessments using biophysical and analytical tools.
• Design and execute formulation and process development for sterile injectables and lyophilized products.
• Implement and oversee automated equipment/workflows to improve efficiency.
• Support manufacturing of materials for early clinical trials, including aseptic filling and single‑use systems.
• Anticipate and resolve technical and process challenges to meet timelines.
• Analyze complex data, provide conclusions, and support decisions and regulatory submissions.
