Job summary

Elanco is seeking an Upstream Bioprocess Development Scientist in Indianapolis, hybrid work environment. You will lead upstream program development from shake flasks to bioreactors, partnering with downstream, Formulations, and Analytical teams to drive innovative, robust processes.

The role requires a Bachelor's in biology-related field, 5+ years in mammalian cell culture, and strong DoE/QbD experience. Travel ~10% and collaboration across manufacturing facilities are expected.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or related field.
• Experience: Minimum of five years of hands-on experience working with mammalian cell lines or similar.
• Top Skills: Strong laboratory skills in cell culture and bioreactor operation; knowledge of bioprocess and DoE principles.

Responsibilities

• Conceive, plan, schedule, and execute laboratory experiments across multiple models and scales (shake flasks to bioreactors) to develop robust upstream processes for the Large Molecule portfolio.
• Apply QbD and DoE methodologies to evaluate factor interactions, optimize product quality and yield, and support regulatory initiatives.
• Maintain laboratory infrastructure and ensure biohazard and chemical safety; perform instrument maintenance and evaluate new equipment.
