Job summary

Holmes Murphy is seeking a Benefits Specialist for our Avant Specialty Benefits team in Kansas City. This hybrid role supports benefits enrollments, onboarding, and client inquiries with a focus on accuracy and exceptional service. You will work with internal teams and vendors to ensure timely information flow.

The ideal candidate will have a Life & Health Insurance license, 2–4 years in HR/benefits, and strong problem-solving and communication skills. College degree preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
• Active state Life & Health Insurance agent’s license required.
• 2-4 years of HR or Employee Benefits experience required.
• Knowledge of benefit plans and administration is a plus.
• Telephonic customer service experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process employee benefit enrollments according to client agreements.
• Provide phone-based support for enrollments, onboarding, qualifying life events, eligibility, and inquiries.
• Serve as a Service Advocate for clients and internal account teams.
• Contribute to developing and improving processes for efficiency and accuracy.
• Maintain product knowledge, documentation, and underwriting guidelines for each case.
• Navigate and capture elections across benefit administration systems.
• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for timely, accurate information flow.
• Assist with enrollment trainings and document case details for team use.
