Avant Specialty Benefits in Kansas City is seeking a Benefits Specialist to help individuals navigate their benefits with clarity and confidence. This hybrid role supports enrollments, onboarding, and inquiries while maintaining detailed knowledge of plans and underwriting guidelines.

You will work with internal teams and clients to ensure accurate data flow, drive process improvements, and deliver a world-class client experience in a dynamic benefits environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
• Active state Life & Health Insurance license required.
• 2–4 years HR or Employee Benefits experience.
• Knowledge of benefit plans and administration a plus.
• Telephonic customer service experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process employee benefit enrollments according to client agreements with Avant.
• Provide phone-based support for enrollments, onboarding, eligibility, and general inquiries.
• Serve as a Service Advocate for clients and internal account teams.
• Contribute to developing and improving processes for efficiency and accuracy.
• Maintain product knowledge, documentation, and underwriting guidelines for each case.
• Navigate and capture elections across benefits administration systems.
• Ensure data accuracy and uphold quality assurance standards.
• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to ensure timely information flow.
• Participate in enrollment trainings and document case details for team use.
• Support internal teams, clients, and brokers with special projects and ongoing operational needs.

As a Benefits Specialist with Avant Specialty Benefits , you'll play an important role in helping individuals navigate their benefits with clarity and confidence. This role is a hybrid role in our new Kansas City office, in the Crossroads district.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Process employee benefit enrollments according to client agreements with Avant.
• Provide phone-based support for enrollments, new hire onboarding, qualifying life events, eligibility, and general inquiries.
• Serve as a Service Advocate for clients and internal account teams.
• Contribute to developing and improving processes for greater efficiency and accuracy.
• Maintain detailed product knowledge, documentation, and underwriting guidelines for each case.
• Navigate and capture elections across various benefits administration systems.
• Ensure data accuracy and uphold quality assurance standards.

• Benefits Knowledge, Principles, & Practice: Invests in the development of insurance benefits knowledge, including changing and emerging industry trends, and applies relevant principles and practices throughout daily responsibilities.
• Problem Solving: Ability to efficiently identify problem(s), leverage resources to determine root cause(s) and propose and implement solutions or make improvements.
• Workflow & Systems Knowledge: Actively contributes to defined workflows, including related processes, procedures, and deliverables, and utilizing resources to deliver a world class client experience and adhering to compliance requirements.
