Placements24 is seeking an Automation and Control Systems Engineer for a hybrid role in Welkom, Free State, ZA. You will design, implement, and maintain PLC/SCADA systems and robotics integration to boost production efficiency and continuity.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in industrial automation, strong PLC/SCADA skills, and a proactive approach to improving processes. The role blends on-site collaboration with remote work components in a modern manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
5+ years in industrial automation and control systems engineering.
Proficiency in programming PLC platforms such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron.
Experience with SCADA software like WinCC, Ignition, Wonderware.

Responsibilities

Design, program, and implement PLC and HMI systems for industrial automation.
Develop and configure SCADA systems for monitoring and control of plant operations.
Integrate robotic systems and other automated equipment into the production line.
Troubleshoot automation and control system issues to minimize downtime.
Perform system upgrades and enhancements for efficiency, reliability, and safety.
Conduct root cause analysis for automation failures and implement solutions.
Collaborate with production, maintenance and engineering to define automation requirements.
Develop and maintain technical documentation for designs and code.
Stay updated with automation advancements and best practices.
Provide training and support to operations and maintenance teams.
