Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• 1–2 years of claims handling experience preferred.
• Strong customer service and technology skills.
• Ability to navigate multiple systems with strong organizational and communication skills.
• License may be required in multiple states by state law.

Responsibilities

• Investigates claim using internal and external resources, speaking with insured or involved parties; analyzes reports and past activity.
• Extensive and timely direct interaction with insureds, claimants, agents and internal customers.
• Determines policy coverage through investigation data and policy terms; notifies agent and insured of coverage or issues.
• Establishes claim reserve requirements and adjusts as needed during processing.
• Determines and negotiates settlement amounts for damages within assigned authority.
• Writes simple to moderately complex property damage or reviews auto damage estimates.
• Takes statements when necessary and coordinates with Field Appraisal, Subrogation or SIU as appropriate.
• Maintains accurate claim files and diaries throughout the life cycle of the claim.
• Alerts Unit Leader to potential fraud or subrogation issues.
