Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field; or at least 2 years of experience in lieu of degree.
• Proficient MS Office skills (Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Proven interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of planning, design, and construction processes.
• Able to work with various team members during all project phases.

Responsibilities

• Train and mentor to learn National Grid's business structure, the utility business, and estimating practices.
• Prepare accurate and timely construction estimates based on designs, site visits, contracts, materials, permitting, environmental considerations, labor and equipment.
• Analyze themes and trends to ensure factors are included in estimates.
• Assess risk on large capital projects and apply contingency; develop risk registers and quantitative assessments.
• Update estimating system software for data storage and retrieval and improve efficiency.
• Monitor year-over-year accuracy of costs and ensure regulatory compliance and on-budget delivery.
• Collaborate with vendors and engineers to discuss estimates and resolve issues.
• Seek ways to improve processes to drive efficiency in the assigned area.
• Work independently to manage schedule and workload to meet dates.
