Job summary

La Jolla Group in Irvine, CA is seeking a temp apparel designer to support design teams across multiple brands in a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with Product Development, Tech Design, and Production, translating trends into tech packs and graphics.

Ideal candidates have AA or BFA in fashion design and 3–6 years of apparel design and product development experience. The role offers a hybrid work schedule, a comprehensive benefits package, and opportunities to contribute to

Qualifications

Proficient in design software, including adobe creative suites.
Working knowledge of both design and production process, garment construction, fits, fabric, trim and wash development.
Ability to work as a team player and take oral and written directions/ critiques.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize workload and organize daily activities.
Deadline driven with excellent project management, time management and sense of urgency.
Ability to work independently and meet all design deadlines.

Responsibilities

Create tech packs (technical sketches, CADs, BOMs, trims) in illustrator format with high proficiency.
Create, manipulate and pitch prints, stripes, plaids and graphics in illustrator format.
Keep design department organized by filing and storing all trims, fabric, submits and samples so cross functional teams can easily access when needed.
Development: Review vendor submits (lab-dips, strike-offs, handlooms, proto samples) and communicate comments to designers/ product developers.
Assist in daily design process in multiple seasons, brands and product lifecycles, including trend research, sketching in illustrator, fabric and trim selection and fittings.
