Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is seeking an Application Infrastructure Engineer to ensure reliability and performance of enterprise infrastructure services supporting LLNL applications. This role is in the Enterprise Infrastructure Services Division within the Computing Directorate, supporting the LivIT program.

The position offers a hybrid schedule with some remote work. You will work with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and secure scalable infrastructure using Kubernetes,

Qualifications

• Significant hands-on experience managing and operating application infrastructure and Kubernetes clusters in production.
• Advanced experience managing and administering Ping Federate.
• Experience with applications and cloud service infrastructures across multiple technologies, with monitoring, security, and lifecycle management.
• Advanced experience with major cloud platforms and their managed Kubernetes services (AWS EKS, GCP GKE, Azure AKS).
• Strong communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Support PingFederate patching, maintenance, and troubleshooting authentication issues.
• Support AppManager instances and batch job automation with development staff.
• Provide operational support for Enterprise application, Kubernetes, Docker and related tech to meet SLAs.
• Collaborate with developers, IT managers, DBAs, and security to design robust, secure infra.
• Manage full lifecycle of Enterprise application infra including capacity planning, upgrades, and security compliance.
• Implement security best practices within container environments (RBAC, secrets, network policies, vulnerability scanning).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
