Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is seeking a Nuclear Facility Electronics/Instrumentation/Control Systems Engineer to ensure the readiness of Hazard Category 2 and 3 systems. The role involves monitoring, maintenance planning, and system modification support for safety-related structures and components, with opportunities to contribute to significant R&D projects.

The position offers a hybrid schedule with some work-from-home flexibility after a probationary period, and requires

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical, electronics, instrumentation, or controls engineering or equivalent level of education and related technical experience.
Broad knowledge of engineering standards and practices related to electrical, instrumentation or controls.
Proficiency in developing or reviewing calculations, specifications, drawings, and sketches; determining design criteria.

Responsibilities

Monitor the integrity and configuration of instrumentation, detector, or alarm systems to anticipate maintenance needs.
Prepare system logs, surveillance reports, and brief facility management on results.
Identify and procure spare parts and materials to maintain readiness.
Provide engineering support for sustainment, repair, and modification of safety structures, systems, and components.
Support significant R&D projects with innovative, safe solutions compliant with DOE orders and specifications.
Develop and implement solutions for moderate to complex facility operation issues.
