Job summary

Summit Utilities, Inc. seeks an Analytics Engineer II to design, develop, test, and maintain analytics data products powering reporting and regulatory submissions.

You will own dbt model development in Microsoft Fabric and Azure SQL, covering.billing, AMI, SAP, and customer data end-to-end—from profiling to deployment and monitoring. Ideal candidates have 3–6 years of experience, strong SQL/dbt skills, and familiarity with data governance, metadata management, and cloud data environments.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years in analytics engineering, data engineering, data analysis, or BI development.
• Hands-on experience building dbt models in production environments.
• Strong SQL skills with performance optimization and data governance awareness.
• Experience in cloud data environments (Fabric, Azure SQL, AWS) and CI/CD workflows.
• Familiarity with source control practices and metadata management.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain dbt models transforming source data into analytics-ready datasets.
• Write and maintain dbt tests and source freshness checks for data quality SLAs.
• Optimize SQL transformations for performance and cost in Fabric/Azure SQL.
• Investigate data discrepancies with Data Engineers to remediate issues.
• Gather requirements from analysts and regulatory teams and translate to designs.
• Document dbt projects, including model purpose, column definitions, and lineage.
• Collaborate on ingestion, modeling, and monitoring standards across teams.
• Participate in CI/CD workflows and deployment automation for dbt.
• Mentor Analytics Engineer I peers and contribute to architecture discussions.
• Build knowledge of utility data domains (billing, AMI, SCADA) and data quality needs.
