Job summary

Mercer in Washington, D.C. seeks an experienced Senior Workforce Strategy Consultant to blend workforce analytics with AI-driven insights for clients. You will translate problems into analytics-powered solutions and lead engagements that deliver measurable workforce impacts.

The role emphasizes model development, governance, and practical data products, with a focus on pay equity and strategic planning. Hybrid work is supported in a client-facing environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant consulting experience in workforce strategy, HR analytics, labor economics, organizational psychology, or related field.
• Master’s or PhD in economics, I-O psychology, statistics, data science, computer science, labor relations, or another quantitative discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in pay equity analysis, strategic workforce planning, external labor market analysis, or similar engagements.
• Strong statistical and machine learning skills: regression, causal inference, time series, clustering, and predictive modeling.
• Proficiency in Python, R, SQL and experience with Tableau or similar visualization tools.
• Hands-on experience extracting value from large datasets and translating outputs into business actions.
• Excellent storytelling, client-facing communication, and project leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Translate business problems into analytics-driven workforce solutions using qualitative research, advanced statistics, and AI-enabled methods.
• Design, build, and operationalize analytic models and data products (forecasting, skills taxonomies, retention scoring, mobility recommendations).
• Lead client engagements as analytics/AI lead: define approaches, present findings, co-create implementation roadmaps.
• Drive pay equity, strategic workforce planning, and external labor market analyses with econometrics and AI-enhanced methods.
• Create dashboards, visualizations, and data stories that are actionable for HR and business leaders.
• Ensure responsible AI use: model validation, bias detection/mitigation, explainability, privacy, documentation.
• Contribute to Mercer's intellectual capital with reusable AI-enabled frameworks and client accelerators.
