Job summary

Addison Group in Vienna, VA is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join the Finance team in a hands-on, individual contributor role. This position will be responsible for a broad range of accounting functions, with a strong focus on general ledger activities, accounts payable, and month-end close.

The ideal candidate will have government contracting experience and a strong understanding of FAR, CAS, and GAAP requirements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounting experience.
• Strong general ledger and month-end close experience.
• Government contracting accounting experience required.
• Knowledge of FAR, CAS, and GAAP requirements.
• Experience with accounts payable, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
• Deltek Costpoint experience preferred; Unanet and QuickBooks experience are a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field preferred; equivalent accounting experience will be considered.
• Comfortable working in an on-site, open-office environment Monday through Thursday.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounts payable activities, including invoice review, coding, and processing.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accounting transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
• Play a key role in the month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
• Review and analyze account balances and financial activity to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Apply FAR, CAS, and GAAP requirements to accounting activities and maintain accurate, compliant financial records.
• Support financial reporting, audit preparation, and other accounting functions as needed.
• Partner with the Controller and Finance team on various accounting initiatives and projects.
• Maintain organized documentation and ensure financial records are accurate, complete, and audit-ready.
• Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Support the Finance team across multiple accounting functions and priorities.
