Job summary

The University of Michigan's College of Engineering seeks an Academic Advisor for the Engineering Advising Center to guide a cohort of first-year and undeclared CoE students, assisting with course selection, degree requirements, and career exploration.

You will coordinate one or more EAC programs, plan events, review transcripts, and share resources while maintaining a collaborative, student-centered office culture that supports work-life balance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of related advising or student affairs experience.
  • Experience using strong interpersonal, speaking, and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to holistic student support.
  • Ability to occasionally work irregular hours (evenings and weekends).

Responsibilities

  • Advise first-year and undeclared CoE students with in-person/phone/video appointments and email.
  • Use advising technology to schedule appointments, review transcripts/degree audits/early warning grades, and record advising notes.
  • Track the progress of specific populations (e.g., students on probation) and provide proactive advising.
  • Present degree requirements and support resource information to students at orientation.
  • Coordinate all aspects of one or more EAC programs or strategic initiatives.
  • Design, promote, and implement program-related events.
  • Assist the EAC team with planning and executing large and small events.
