Hyatt House New Orleans Downtown is seeking a General Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team. This on-site role involves maintaining guest rooms, public spaces, meeting rooms, and back-of-house areas across the hotel, with a focus on preventative maintenance and quick issue resolution.

The ideal candidate has a broad maintenance background, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and mechanical systems, plus strong troubleshooting and guest-service skills.

Qualifications

• Prior general maintenance experience in hotels or similar buildings.
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and mechanical systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-resolving abilities.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively.
• Excellent communication and guest service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders and lift equipment.

Responsibilities

As a General Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overall upkeep of guest rooms, public spaces, meeting rooms, and back-of-house areas throughout the hotel. This hands-on position supports the day-to-day operation of the property by performing preventative maintenance, responding to guest service calls, troubleshooting building-related issues, and completing repairs across a variety of trades.

The ideal candidate will possess a broad maintenance background with experience in general building systems, including basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, kitchen, and laundry equipment repairs. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing exceptional guest service are essential to success in this role.
