Job summary

Tandem Hospitality Group LLC is seeking a Hotel Engineer for the Hotel Indigo New Orleans. The role focuses on preserving the building’s operational condition and safety while working autonomously and with attention to detail.

Responsibilities include maintaining electrical, heating, plumbing systems, conducting preventive maintenance, and coordinating with Housekeeping to ensure guest room equipment works reliably. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 2 years related experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and other systems.
  • Good problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Report directly to Chief Engineer/Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Survey building and repair mechanical systems for health and safety compliance.
  • Perform maintenance of all electrical systems.
  • Maintain heating and plumbing systems for functionality.
  • Perform manual repairs (door locks, window fixtures, etc.).
  • Conduct ongoing room preventive maintenance program.
  • Resolve maintenance problems, complaints, and work orders.
  • General upkeep (landscaping, caulking, painting, etc.).
  • Work knowledge of carpentry, painting, drywall and carpet repair.
  • Inspect property to identify current and potential needs.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Chief Engineer or Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Coordinate with Housekeeping to ensure guest room equipment functioning and under preventive maintenance.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The hotel Engineer has the responsibility of working with the Chief to preserve the building's overall operational condition and functionality. This role requires a thorough professional with a practical approach and attention to detail that can work both autonomously and responsibly, while maintaining the building and common areas in the best possible condition and observing all health and safety guidelines.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Report directly to Chief Engineer/Maintenance Supervisor
  • Survey building and repair mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety standards
  • Perform maintenance of all electrical systems
  • Maintain heating and plumbing systems to ensure functionality
  • Perform manual repairs when necessary (repair/replace door locks, replace window fixtures/windows, etc.)
  • Conduct ongoing room preventative maintenance program.
  • Resolving maintenance problems, complaints, and work orders.
  • General upkeep as directed (i.e. landscaping, caulking, painting, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of carpentry and painting as well as drywall and carpet repair work
  • Inspecting property to identify potential and current needs.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Chief Engineer or Maintenance Supervisor
  • Work with Housekeeping to ensure all equipment within the guest rooms are functioning properly and are a part of an effective preventative maintenance program.
  • Adheres to all company Standard/Conduct policies and procedures
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus two (2) years of related experience or
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the above skills, knowledge, and abilities
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and other systemsGeneral knowledge of maintenance processes and methods
  • Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices
  • Good problem‑solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Significant attention to detail
  • Flexible schedule, including but not limited to the ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.
