Otto Aerospace is seeking an experienced hardware/software integration engineer to bring up the SuperNatural Vision system in Costa Mesa. You will wire cameras, displays, compute nodes, and networking, while writing orchestration code and debugging across Windows, macOS, and Linux.

You’ll own the media pipeline, perform verification, and collaborate with vendors to hit integration milestones toward flight hardware. A strong systems mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 3–5+ years integrating hardware and software, bringing up boards, displays, cameras, or compute and writing the code that drives them.
• Strong programming in Python, plus working ability in at least one of TypeScript/JavaScript, Rust, C/C++, or shell/PowerShell.
• Fluency with lab hardware and instrumentation, display/video interfaces, networking, USB, power, and measurement tools.
• Cross‑platform command of Windows, macOS, and Linux, with automation glue between them.

Responsibilities

• Integrate and bring up SNV hardware in the Costa Mesa lab, including cameras, 4K/8K displays, compute nodes, networking, and power subsystems.
• Build and debug the orchestration software: Python FastAPI, React UI, Rust services, and cross-platform automation.
• Own the media pipeline: hardware decoded playback, ffmpeg transcoding, and high‑resolution multi‑panel content.
• Document interfaces, cables, BOMs, and configurations for traceability and compliance.
• Verify performance: quantify frame drops, GPU use, latency, and produce test reports for requirements.
