Job summary

Siemens Energy in the United States is seeking a Protection Commissioning Engineer for HVDC protection systems. You will test, validate, and commission protection hardware and software at test centers and customer sites, ensuring safe and reliable HVDC operation.

Travel to project sites worldwide is required. The role requires a degree in Electrical Engineering or Energy Technology, experience in protection engineering, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Technology, or a comparable technical qualification
• Experience or strong foundation in protection engineering, testing, or commissioning of power systems or HVDC installations
• Knowledge of protection principles, measuring systems, and primary equipment such as sensors
• Experience with testing environments such as PLC-based systems, simulation tools, or protection test setups
• Willingness to travel worldwide for extended test-center or on-site commissioning assignments
• Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States

Responsibilities

• Executing commissioning and testing of HVDC direct-current systems and protection systems in test centers and at customer sites worldwide
• Performing functional and dynamic performance testing of protection hardware and software, including customer acceptance testing
• Commissioning and verifying measuring systems, DC protection functions, and fault recording systems for HVDC projects
• Analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving protection-related issues during system integration and commissioning
• Supporting commissioning management through quality, risk, and continuous-improvement activities to ensure safe and reliable project delivery
