Job summary

Top Echelon Software, LLC seeks a field engineer to test and commission protection and control systems for electric utilities in the upper Midwest. The role is remote, home-based with travel to substations across your territory.

You will work from home, traveling daily to utility sites, conducting tests, troubleshooting start-ups, and collecting data on HV equipment. Strong diagnostic and schematics-reading skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years in utility or substation relay testing and commissioning.
• Hands-on experience with relay test sets and relay software (SEL, GE or similar).
• Bachelor's degree in EE or related field, or equivalent experience.
• NETA certification is not required.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Test and commission protective relays, control schemes and substation equipment on transmission and distribution systems.
• Troubleshoot, run start-ups and collect test data on HV equipment.
• Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams and DC elementaries.
• Work independently on site, and report findings to customers and project leads.
