Job summary

Hitachi Energy seeks a Mechanical Plant Design Engineer to support HVDC converter station projects through mechanical plant design, layout development, and cross-functional coordination. The role involves 3D modelling, 2D drawings, and engineering estimates to deliver safe, reliable solutions that meet safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets.

Qualifications

• University degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline.
• Experience in 3D modelling and 2D drafting within mechanical or plant engineering.
• Experience with CAD/PLM tools; NX and Teamcenter experience is an advantage.
• Ability to work according to defined engineering processes and digital toolchains.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical plant design for HVDC converter stations, including 3D modelling and 2D drawings/layouts.
• Apply established design practices, guidelines, and applicable standards for mechanical plant and electromechanical design.
• Build HSE considerations and early risk identification into design solutions.
• Prepare and maintain drawings, layouts, bills of materials, engineering estimates, and related design documentation.
• Help ensure designs meet project requirements, timelines, budget, quality, and safety standards.
• Review and verify drawings and technical documentation for accuracy and alignment with project needs.
• Collaborate with civil, electrical, project, tender, customer, supplier, and contractor stakeholders across engineering and execution phases.
• Provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases when required.
• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
