Job summary

Hitachi Energy’s Grid Integration team seeks a Mechanical Plant Design Engineer to support HVDC converter station projects through mechanical plant design, layout development, and coordination across project phases. You will work with 3D modelling, 2D drawings, and design documentation to deliver safe, reliable converter station solutions.

Qualifications

• University degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline.
• Experience in 3D modelling and 2D drafting within mechanical or plant engineering.
• Experience using CAD/PLM tools for mechanical plant design; NX and Teamcenter experience is an advantage.
• Candidate must already have work authorization to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical plant design for HVDC converter stations, including 3D modelling and 2D drawings/layouts.
• Apply established design practices, guidelines, and applicable standards for mechanical plant and electromechanical design.
• Build HSE considerations and early risk identification into design solutions.
• Prepare and maintain drawings, layouts, bills of materials, engineering estimates, and related design documentation.
• Help ensure designs meet project requirements, timelines, budget, quality, and safety standards.
• Review and verify drawings and technical documentation for accuracy and alignment with project needs.
• Collaborate with civil, electrical, project, tender, customer, supplier, and contractor stakeholders across engineering and execution phases.
• Provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases when required.
