Job summary

Hitachi Energy USA Inc. in Raleigh, NC seeks a Project Engineer - Electromechanical to lead mechanical design for HVDC stations onshore and offshore.

You will develop 2D drawings and 3D models, coordinate with suppliers, and support site engineering while maintaining safety and quality standards. Responsibilities include BOM preparation, engineering hours estimation, and creating installation drawings, with collaboration across civil, electrical, mechanical, and BIM teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in mechanical or electrical eng and 3 years of HVDC power systems exp.
• Master’s degree accepted with 1 year of related exp in lieu of degree.
• Experience with manufacturing and production processes and steel structure standardization.
• HVDC substation design using applicable design principles and standards.
• Ability to read/write SLDs and apply NEC/ANSI/IEEE/IEC/NFPA electrical standards.
• Create 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD, NX or Revit.
• Prepare BOM/BOQ, estimated hours, layouts, and safety documentation.
• Interact with customers, suppliers or contractors on scope of deliveries.
• Troubleshoot during design and installation phases; ensure safety compliance.
• Collaborate with civil, electrical, mechanical teams and BIM roles.

Responsibilities

• Act as design authority for electromechanical plant design of HVDC stations.
• Complete assignments on projects cost effectively and per contract specs.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers.
• Support site engineering and supervise installation of mechanical scope.
• Produce installation drawings and as-built documentation.
