Job Title: HVACR Technician, Pipe Mechanical Trades II

Job Summary:
The PMT-II HVACR Technician will operate, monitor, service and/orrepair Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration(HVACR) systems, and associated hardware for all CU Anschutz Campusbuildings. The technician will respond to emergency callspertaining to HVACR problems and emergencies throughout the campus.This position helps to ensure the safest and most efficientoperation of equipment for the HVACR systems at CU Anschutz.
Key Responsibilities:
- Completes work requests for preventive maintenance and repairsto refrigeration systems. Inspects, replaces, adjusts, programs,and calibrates electronic and refrigeration controls andcomponents. Install, repair, and replace systems and components. Systems include 4C to 37C environmental rooms, process chillers,and walk-in freezers. Operates university vehicles to transportequipment and tools to work sites. Records maintenance data in acomputer.
- Completes work requests for preventive maintenance, repairs,and installations to building and occupant owned heating,ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) systems, components, andcontrols. Operates university vehicles to transport equipment andtools to work sites. Records work performed in a work order datasystem. Types of systems includes: package systems, split systems,chillers, CRAC units, AHUs, FCUs, RTU's, exhaust fans, humidifiers,furnaces, and snow-Melter.
- Uses servicing and recovery equipment to recover CFC, HCFC, andHFC type refrigerants, while following EPA guidelines. Stores andreuses all types of refrigerants. Participates in and monitors therefrigerant recovery program. Enters information into a database,and maintains hard-copy records of all refrigerant handlingactivities. Accurately weighs and records tank tare weights andgross weights. Performs mathematical functions to correctly andaccurately calculate amounts used.
- Provides training and assistance to other employees.
- Participate and assist in emergencies based on the magnitudeand nature. Supports various special events both in preparation andduring the event.
Work Location:
Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
- Three years of experience in the HVACR industries.
- Substitution: Appropriate education or successfulcompletion of a formalized apprenticeship related to HVACR cansubstitute for the required experience on a year-for-yearbasis.
- Note: This position requires EPA Universal Certificationin order to work with refrigerants on all types of equipment. Ifapplicant does not currently possess a Universal (Type 1, 2, and3), then applicant must agree to obtain it within 6 months ofhire.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least four years of experience in the HVACRindustries.
- Commercial HVACR experience.
- Experience with medium and/or low temperature refrigerationapplications.
- Experience working with chillers.
- Experience with large motor and bearing repairs – 10HP andabove.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $4,955 - $5,946 per month ($59,460- $71,352 per year). This position is eligible for overtime compensation. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for a one-time non-base building sign-on bonus up to $2,000. Details of this recruitment incentive program will be provided during the interview process.
