Job summary

University of Colorado Anschutz in Aurora, CO seeks a PMT II Working Zone Proctor to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building systems across the Anschutz Campus. Responds to HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing issues and supports project reps for small to large projects.

Ideal candidates have 3 years in HVAC/mechanical trades; Apprenticeship or equivalent coursework acceptable. Onsite work, with strong emphasis on safety, communication, and proactive system monitoring.

Qualifications

  • Three years of progressively responsible pipe and/or mechanical trades experience related to HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or plumbing.
  • Successful completion of a formalized plumbing, pipefitting, steam fitting, or HVAC apprenticeship program, or higher-level coursework, may substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

  • Respond to emergencies or trouble calls about HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and utility system failures and interruptions.
  • Evaluate operation of malfunctioning or dilapidated equipment and decide between replacement and repair options.
  • Set priorities on work to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Monitor, service, repair, and/or install building systems and components for the campus.
  • Determine whether repairs are cost-effective or if replacement is preferable.
  • Communicate work requests and ongoing issues effectively to customers and staff.

Job Summary

The Zone Proctor will provide preventive and corrective maintenanceservices and repairs for various building systems and components atthe Anschutz Campus. This includes minor service and repairs oninfrastructure, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and the BASsystem. The Zone Proctor will respond to emergencies and troublecalls about heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC),electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and utility system failures andinterruptions. The Zone Proctor will collaborate with trades,clients, and project managers to ensure the proper installation,repairs, and operations of facility systems and components. Otherresponsibilities of the position include serving as projectrepresentative for small and large projects and quality assurancesurveys for the zone team.

Key Responsibilities

The position investigates corrective maintenance issues todetermine what the problem is and what needs to be done to rectifythe problem or who should be consulted for further direction.

  • Respond to emergencies or trouble calls about heating,ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), electrical, mechanical,plumbing, and utility system failures and interruptions.
  • The position. Evaluate the operation of malfunctioning ordilapidated equipment and components and decide or recommendbetween replacement and repair options. i.e., fans, pumps, motors,bearings, and air compressors.
  • The position sets priorities on work assigned to maximizeefficiency and effectiveness.
  • The position monitors, services, repairs, and/or installsbuilding systems and components for the Anschutz campus.
  • The position determines whether the repair can be made or if itwould be more cost-effective to purchase a replacement.
  • This position uses the manufacturer's specifications andoperating procedures, with standard trade practices, to evaluatethe operations of building systems, equipment, andcomponents.
  • The position speaks to customers and staff in an informativemanner regarding work service requests and any ongoing issues intheir area of responsibility.
Work Location

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is locatedin Anschutz Campus, Aurora, Colorado.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Three years of progressively responsible pipe and/or mechanicaltrades experience related to HVAC, electrical, mechanical, orplumbing.
Substitution
  • Successful completion of a formalized plumbing, pipefitting,steam fitting, or heating, ventilation, and air conditioningapprenticeship program, or higher-level, non-correspondencecoursework in the same fields from an accredited vocational schoolor university, may substitute for the experience on a year-for-yearbasis.

Anticipated Pay Range

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $4,955 - $5,946 per week.

This position is eligible for overtime compensation.

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

If you have prior state-classified service in the same class seriesas this position, your pay may be set at a higher amount per thestate Step Pay Program implemented on July 1, 2024.
