University of Colorado Denver's Facilities Management Department seeks a PMT-II Facilities Maintenance HVAC Technician (Housing) to perform corrective and preventive maintenance on HVAC/R systems across campus. This is a full-time state classified position with after-hours on-call including weekends and holidays to support 24/7 operations.

Qualifications

  • Current CFC Universal Certification is required.
  • Four years of progressively responsible HVAC/R experience, with at least two years with process chillers.
  • Able to work after-hours, weekends, and holidays on a call-back rotation.
  • Substitutions: apprenticeship or higher-level coursework may substitute for experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; effective written and oral communication.

Job Summary

Join the Facilities Management Department on the University ofColorado Denver Campus as a PMT-II Facilities Maintenance HVACTechnician (Housing). This is a full-time state classifiedposition. The PMT-II Facilities Maintenance HVAC Technicianposition: On-call after hours (which includes weekends and holidaysto support 24 hours a day, 7 days- a-week operation. Maintain allfacilities and operating systems in safe and efficient workingorder. The Refrigeration Technician position operates, monitors,services and/or repairs a wide array of refrigeration equipment,HVAC systems, and associate hardware for all CU Denver campusbuildings. It responds to emergency calls pertaining to HVAC andrefrigeration problems, and emergencies throughout the campus, andensures the safest and most efficient operation and training ofpersonnel for the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning andRefrigeration (HVACR) systems at CU Denver. The position handleswork requests related work for occupants owned HVAC/R systems. Youwill record issues and make work reports via email, log your workin CMMS and monitor building systems in BAS and perform variousother duties and tasks as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must possess a current CFC Universal Certification, in order towork with CFC's, HCFC's, and HFC's
  • Four years of progressively responsible experience in theheating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration industry,with a minimum of two-year experience working with processchillers
Substitutions
  • Successful completion of a formalized heating, ventilation, airconditioning and refrigeration apprenticeship program, or higherlevel, non- correspondence course work in the same fields from anaccredited vocational school or university may substitute for theexperience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with VRFrefrigeration systems
  • Experience entering, updating and modifying information in adatabase.
  • Experience in refrigeration that includes inspecting,replacing, adjusting and calibrating electronic and refrigerationcontrols and components.
  • Experience in performing mathematical functions to correctlyand accurately calculate amounts of refrigerants used.
  • Experience in performing preventive maintenance and repairs toHVAC/R systems and components.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience that demonstrates strong interpersonal skills andthe ability to establish rapport with persons of diversebackgrounds
  • Experience that demonstrates strong customer serviceskills
  • Excellent oral communication skills with the ability to handlestressful situations in a calm and professional manner.

Anticipated Pay Range

The starting salary range for this position has been established as$4,906 – $5,690 per month)

This position may be eligible for a one time non-base buildingsign-on bonus up to $2,000. Details of this recruitment incentiveprogram will be provided during the interview process.

This position is eligible for overtime compensation.

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith andreasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at thetime of posting.

If you have prior state-classified service in the same class seriesas this position, your pay may be set at a higher amount per thestate Step Pay Program implemented on July 1, 2024.
