Job summary

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado is seeking a Plumber in the Facilities Management Department. This on-site role supports campus operations by designing and installing plumbing and mechanical systems and performing routine preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure reliable building services.

You will work with clients, project managers, contractors, and other trades to ensure proper installation and operation of facility systems, including pump repairs

Qualifications

  • A Journeyman or Master plumber license is required.

Key Responsibilities: The responsibilities of this position includethe design and installation of various plumbing and mechanicalsystems, performing preventative and corrective maintenance onplumbing, mechanical, fire protection, infrastructure, and HVACsystems, as well as pump repairs, water treatment for closed loops,utility locates, and backflow prevention. Collaborates withclients, project managers, contractors, and other trades to ensureproper installation and operation of facility systems.

On-site – This role is expected to work on-site and is at theAnschutz Campus in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Three years of progressively responsible plumbing experience ina construction or combination construction and maintenance andrepair environment.
    • Substitution: Successful completion of a formalized plumbingapprenticeship program, or higher level, non-correspondencecoursework in the same fields from an accredited vocational schoolor university may substitute for the experience on a year-for-yearbasis.
  • Necessary special qualification: Must possess a Journeyman orMaster plumber's license.

Colorado law requires that candidates for state government jobs beresidents of Colorado at the time of application.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time ofhire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • State of Colorado Backflow Certification
  • Experience servicing and maintaining equipment andmachinery.
  • Experience in planning and laying out complete projectdesigns.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently withminimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapportwith persons of diverse backgrounds

NOTE: This position has been designated as essentialpersonnel, “Subject to call 24 hours per day, seven days per week,”and may be required to carry a pager. Position may also be requiredto “Stay over late” or “Come in early” to “Cover” shifts, asneeded, and may be required to respond to any emergencies asneeded. If hired, you will be required to provide effectiveoff-hours phone contact info for emergency call-in purposes.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position hasbeen established as

4,955 - $5,747 per month ( $59,460 - $68,964 per year).

This position is eligible for overtime compensation.

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith andreasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at thetime of posting.

If you have prior state-classified service in the same class seriesas this position, your pay may be set at a higher amount per thestate Step Pay Program implemented on July 1, 2024.
