Job summary

State of Connecticut, DMHAS is seeking a Qualified Craft Worker (HVACR) to maintain and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems across agency facilities. The role emphasizes preventive maintenance, system monitoring and ensuring safe indoor environments for staff and the public.

The position requires four years of HVACR experience, CT licensing considerations, and the ability to work within a unionized, public sector setting.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in HVACR trade.
• Two years of General/Special Experience required.
• State employees: experience interpreted at Skilled Maintainer level.
• CT license in heating/piping/cooling preferred (D2/S2).

Responsibilities

• Performs skilled HVACR tasks on air systems per trade practices and codes.
• Operates, maintains, repairs, installs, modifies and assembles HVACR equipment.
• Determines required cooling capacity for small areas.
• Interprets a psychometric chart.
• Monitors air flow, room air changes and room pressurizing.
• Keeps records and prepares estimates for time and materials.
• Inspects steam traps and repairs piping as needed.
