Job summary

SPX Technologies, including Weil‑McLain products, is seeking a Test Technician II for its HVAC engineering laboratory in Indiana. The role involves building, maintaining, and troubleshooting test equipment and product test setups to support development and data collection.

You will interpret engineering drawings, assemble prototypes, install instrumentation, and ensure data accuracy. Strong troubleshooting, blueprint reading, and collaboration with engineers are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience with mechanical or electrical test equipment in a manufacturing, lab, or engineering setting.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical schematics.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to equipment and systems.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical/electrical components and testing methods.
• Ability to work under general supervision while managing tasks and priorities.
• Proficiency in basic computer applications for data entry, documentation, and test reporting.

Responsibilities

• Plan, layout, assemble, and modify test equipment and structural assemblies from drawings.
• Construct prototypes, test systems, and experimental setups per engineering requirements.
• Modify equipment by adding, removing, or altering components per specifications.
• Fabricate and modify components using sheet metal tools and basic machine shop equipment.
• Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance under varying conditions.
• Install instrumentation and data acquisition systems and collect test data.
• Review results with engineering to identify issues and drive corrective actions.
• Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs or component replacements.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness of lab equipment and procedures.
