Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking an HVAC technician/manager to lead maintenance and repair across the facility. You will develop and oversee HVAC programs, supervise construction and renovation projects, and ensure timely responses to emergencies.

You will determine equipment needs, justify purchases, stay current on HVAC/refrigeration advances, and may require overtime or 24-hour on-call rotations to keep operations running smoothly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and HVAC maintenance experience.
• EPA 608 Type II or universal certification required within six months.
• Experience with HVAC systems, building controls and preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Develop HVAC maintenance and repair program throughout the facility.
• Supervise and complete HVAC maintenance, construction, and renovation projects for assigned facility.
• Establish on-call procedures to respond to emergency maintenance and repair calls and ensure the work is promptly and properly performed.
• Determine requirements for HVAC supplies and equipment.
• Prepare justification for supplies and equipment and submit purchase requisitions.
• Remains abreast of new HVAC/refrigeration techniques, procedures and equipment.
• Recommend the procurement and assist in supervising the installation of new equipment.
• May require overtime, on-call rotation and 24-hour response for emergencies.
• General maintenance experience.
