Job summary

The City of Dayton is seeking an HVAC Technician I to maintain and repair building systems across city facilities. You will focus on HVAC, electrical, and plumbing tasks, perform servicing of boilers, chillers, pumps, and related equipment, and assist higher level technicians under supervision.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, an HVAC apprenticeship and 3 years of relevant experience, EPA CFC Universal certificate, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• HVAC apprenticeship and trade certification or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial/industrial HVAC repair, operations, installation and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Repair and service commercial/industrial HVAC systems including boilers, chillers, pumps and cooling towers.
• Perform electrical tasks below journey-worker level and assist electricians as needed.
• Operate, maintain, install and repair HVAC equipment and related systems.
• Utilize building automation control software for diagnostics and energy management.
• Perform preventive maintenance and keep service records and inventories.
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors and review project plans as required.
