Job summary

The City of Dallas is seeking an HVAC Technician II to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial and residential HVAC and refrigeration equipment across city facilities. You will diagnose electrical components and pneumatic controls, perform preventive maintenance, and replace motors and starters to ensure safe, reliable climate control.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, EPA-608 certification, and 4 years of HVAC experience (2 years with five-ton+ systems).

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
HVAC vocational training or equivalent experience preferred.
EPA Certification (EPA-608) required.
Valid driver’s license with clean record.

Responsibilities

Install, repair, and maintain HVAC and refrigeration equipment in city facilities.
Troubleshoot electrical components and pneumatic controls.
Perform preventive maintenance and leak checks on systems.
Replace motors and starters; service drinking fountains, refrigerators, and ice machines.
Mentor HVAC Apprentices and helpers; respond to temperature-related service calls.
Maintain work orders, track materials, and coordinate with departments.
Work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
