Primary Purpose

Essential Job Functions

• Perform preventive maintenance on heating, ventilating, cooling refrigeration, and kitchen equipment to ensure proper workings of these systems university-wide.
• Assist HVAC Technician II in various duties such as installing small motors and controls, etc., to ensure assigned tasks are completed in a timely manner.
• Maintain proper inventory level of equipment and tools in service vehicles to ensure availability.
• Perform all duties in a safe manner and in accordance with established work procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.

• Available on call 24/7 for University emergencies.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

• Must be able to lift, carry, push or pull a variety of tools, equipment and materials.
• Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel and crouch to gain access to pipes, wiring and equipment.
• Handles a variety of hand and power tools.
• Near-visual acuity needed to read equipment diagrams and inspect parts.
• Depth perception, field of vision and color vision needed in fitting and installing parts.
• Exposed to wet and very hot conditions.
• Exposed to noise and vibration from operating machinery.
• Must be able to lift any trade tools, material and equipment.
• Must be able to reach overhead.
• May be required to work in confined areas to access equipment.

Required Certifications / Licenses

• EPA certified.
• Have and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License with no more than 3 points.

Required Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Required Experience

Minimum one (1) year of experience or equivalent combination of experience and/or education/training.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical schooling / specialized training.
• Two (2) or more years of air conditioning experience.
