Job summary

City of Tucson is seeking an HVAC Technician within the General Services Department to maintain, repair, and replace HVAC mechanical systems across city facilities. You will work under the HVAC-R Supervisor and collaborate with other departments on project scopes.

Responsibilities include diagnosing electrical and mechanical issues, performing maintenance, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Typically requires completion of a 6-month post-high school program or equivalent.
• Experience with electrical circuits, mechanical equipment, and temperature control systems preferred.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems in field environments.
• EPA 608 Type II Certification is required or must be obtained.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical circuits and HVAC equipment across city facilities.
• Read diagrams and perform maintenance, replacements, and welding of parts as needed.
• Coordinate projects with contractors; procure materials and track labor & expenses.
• Maintain safety practices and keep work areas and tools organized.
