Job summary

Modern Heating and Air Conditioning is seeking a Lead HVAC Service Technician (Licensed) to join our team. This top-tier, meticulous professional will lead diagnostic and repair work on residential HVAC systems, quote replacements, and build strong homeowner relationships in a team-driven culture.

The ideal candidate has a Journeyman license, EPA Universal Certification, 4+ years of HVAC experience (residential preferred), and owns a full set of tools.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of HVAC trade experience, including residential service work.
• Journeyman license required or eligible to obtain.
• EPA Universal Certification required; Journeyman/Master license preferred.
• Own a full set of personal hand/diagnostic tools and know how to use them.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-level diagnostics, repairs, and service on residential HVAC systems.
• Quote new system replacements directly to customers or flip system leads to the sales team.
• Build trust with homeowners, explain issues and solutions clearly and professionally.
• Participate in a fair, transparent on-call rotation to support emergency service.
• Promote and renew customer maintenance agreements.
• Maintain a clean, stocked company truck and represent the brand with pride.

• Top-of-the-Market Pay:$40.00 – $50.00 / hour (commensurate with experience)

• Uncapped Commission & Spiffs:

  • 6% Commissionon any brand-new system sales you quote and close.

  • 3% Commissionon system flips/leads handed off if you prefer not to do the final sell.

• On-Call Structure:Committed on-call schedule with atransparent and equal rotation across the tech team. We only serve our existing customer maintenance plan members after hours and on weekends. This reduces many calls during extreme weather.

Ideal Candidate / Requirements

• Experience:Eligible for or currently holding aJourneyman’s License(4+ years of HVAC trade experience), includingat least 2 years of direct residential service work.

• Certifications:EPA Universal Certificationrequired; Journeyman/Master HVAC license preferred.

• Tools:Must own a full set of personal hand/diagnostic tools and know how to use them effectively.

• Mindset:Dependable, punctual, humble, customer-focused, and a true team player.

• Tech Skills:Experience withServiceTitanis a strong plus.

• Professionalism:Clean-cut appearance, valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
