Job summary

Tessera is seeking an HVAC Technician for a full-time, day shift role in Junction City, KS near Fort Riley. The position is non-exempt with a 40-hour work week and pays $27.08 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair and troubleshoot HVAC malfunctions.
• Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment.
• Read and interpret wire diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and drawings for repairs and maintenance.
• Install and service air and water filters; install thermostats and program them.
• Fabricate and install ductwork and chassis parts; connect motors, compressors and fans to control panels.

Typical duties

• Responsible for installation, repairs and troubleshooting HVAC malfunctions.


• Responsible for performing preventative maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment.


• Responsible for utilizing wire diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and drawings to perform repairs and maintenance.


• Responsible for installing and cleaning air and water filters.


• Responsible for installing and programming thermostats.


• Fabricates, assembles, and installs ductwork and chassis parts.


• Responsible for connecting motors, compressors, temperature controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connect control panels to power source.


• Communicates and interacts directly with the customer, informing the customer of unexpected or additional repairs and determining customer needs.


• Responds to customer inquiries and complaints.


• Ensures completed work meets quality control standards.


• Make difficult diagnoses and suggest solutions and repairs to customers.


• Communicates with scheduler to update status of repairs and estimate completion dates.


• Maintain professionalism in both appearance and demeanor.

Qualifications

• Experience in HVAC.


• HVAC and/or EPA Certification is required.


• Must have civilian or military trade school training or equivalent.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.


• May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.


• Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.


• Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

Requirements

• A valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera's insurance.
