Job summary

Air Comfort, Inc. in Dallas is seeking a Critical Systems Technician III, HVAC to lead client mission critical mechanical services under contract. The role involves monitoring contractual commitments and guiding installation, service and operation of data center HVAC equipment.

The technician will supervise junior staff, perform after-hours on-call work, and ensure reliability of HVAC and building automation systems. A strong background in large commercial HVAC is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic air condition theory class completed.
• Understand HVAC diagnostic tools and instruments.
• Experience with DDC, pneumatic and VFD controls.
• Minimum of 7 years large commercial HVAC service experience; 8 years preferred.
• Satisfactorily pass client background checks or training.

Responsibilities

• Lead technician for client mission critical mechanical services under contract.
• Monitor compliance with contractual commitments.
• Provide guidance and leadership on installation, service, and operation of mission critical HVAC equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance, diagnose troubles, and conduct repairs without supervision.
• Handle air and water-cooled chillers, boilers, AHUs, and related systems.
• Maintain and backup Building Automation Software as required.
• Respond to after-hours calls as needed.
• Supervise and mentor lower-grade technicians.

Job description

TITLE: CRITICAL SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN III, HVAC

Location: Dallas TX

The Critical Systems Technician III, HVAC will serve as the lead technician for all client mission critical mechanical services/maintenance under contract. The position will be responsible for monitoring compliance with contractual commitments. The position will provide guidance, leadership and knowledge regarding the installation, service, maintenance, and operation of mission critical data center mechanical equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• All responsibilities of HVAC Tech 2.
• Experienced and able to perform preventive maintenance, trouble diagnosis, routine, and emergency repairs without supervision on all HVAC equipment including but not limited to:
• Air and water-cooled reciprocating chillers
• Centrifugal and screw package chillers
• Natural gas boilers and unit heaters
• Electric duct heaters
• Cooling Towers
• Pneumatic, DDC and Variable Frequency Drive controls
• HVAC air distribution systems, AHU’S, FCU’S, Fans and other devices used in air distribution.
• Various types of water pumps used in the HVAC industry.
• Maintain, upgrade and backup Building Automation Software as required.
• Respond to after-hours calls as required.
• Responsible for supervising and teaching technicians of lower grade levels while striving to improve their own technical levels through experience and literature.
• Required to perform on-call after hour assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

• Must be a US citizen
• Able to obtain security clearance is preferred

Education/Experience (Desired):

• High School Diploma/GED required
• Successful completion of basic air condition theory class.
• Understand proper use of HVAC diagnostic tools and instruments.
• Experience with DDC, pneumatic and variable frequency drive controls.
• Minimum of 7 years large commercial HVAC service experience required; 8 years preferred.
• Satisfactorily pass or complete any required client background checks or training.

Computer Skills:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office or related software.

Certificates and Licenses:

• Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal Certification (required)
• Must have current/active TX Journeyman HVAC license
• OSHA Certification
• Clear and valid TX driver’s license
• US citizen and able to obtain security clearance is preferred
