Job summary

CPG is seeking a Critical Systems Technician III, HVAC in Las Vegas, NV to lead maintenance of mission critical mechanical systems and ensure contractual compliance. The role includes diagnosing HVAC equipment, guiding installation and operation, and mentoring junior technicians.

The candidate will handle preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, and after-hours on-call work for data center environments. Must be a US citizen; security clearance is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Basic air conditioning theory knowledge.
  • Ability to use HVAC diagnostic tools and instruments.
  • Experience with DDC, pneumatic and VFD controls.
  • Minimum 7 years large commercial HVAC service experience; 8 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technician for all mission critical mechanical services and maintenance.
  • Monitor compliance with contractual commitments.
  • Provide guidance and leadership for installation, service, and operation of HVAC equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and emergency repairs without supervision.
  • Supervise and mentor technicians of lower grade levels.
  • Respond to after-hours calls and on-call assignments.

TITLE: CRITICAL SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN III, HVAC
Location: Las Vegas,NV

The Critical Systems Technician III, HVAC will serve as the lead technician for all CPG mission critical mechanical services/maintenance under contract. The position will be responsible for monitoring compliance with contractual commitments. The position will provide guidance, leadership and knowledge regarding the installation, service, maintenance, and operation of mission critical data center mechanical equipment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • All responsibilities of HVAC Tech 2.
  • Experienced and able to perform preventive maintenance, trouble diagnosis, routine, and emergency repairs without supervision on all HVAC equipment including but not limited to:
  • Air and water-cooled reciprocating chillers
  • Centrifugal and screw package chillers
  • Natural gas boilers and unit heaters
  • Electric duct heaters
  • Cooling Towers
  • Pneumatic, DDC and Variable Frequency Drive controls
  • HVAC air distribution systems, AHU’S, FCU’S, Fans and other devices used in air distribution.
  • Various types of water pumps used in the HVAC industry.
  • Maintain, upgrade and backup Building Automation Software as required.
  • Respond to after-hours calls as required.
  • Responsible for supervising and teaching technicians of lower grade levels while striving to improve their own technical levels through experience and literature.
  • Required to perform on-call after hour assignments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
  • Must be a US citizen
  • US citizen and able to obtain security clearance is preferred

Education/Experience (Desired)
  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Successful completion of basic air condition theory class.
  • Understand proper use of HVAC diagnostic tools and instruments.
  • Experience with DDC, pneumatic and variable frequency drive controls.
  • Minimum of 7 years large commercial HVAC service experience required; 8 years preferred.
  • Satisfactorily pass or complete any required client background checks or training.
Computer Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office or related software.
Certificates And Licenses
  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal Certification (required)
  • Must have current/active AZ Journeyman HVAC license
  • OSHA Certification
  • Clear and valid Virginia/Maryland driver’s license
  • US citizen and able to obtain security clearance is preferred
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • No supervisory responsibilities with this position.
