Terrestris is seeking an HVAC Tech to support the Veteran community in the Montgomery, AL area. This 1-year contract position requires 3+ years of HVAC experience, OSHA 30-hour certification, and the ability to work in a hospital environment with potential exposure to dust, chemicals, and noise.

Typical day includes preventive maintenance, system inspections, and repairs of HVAC equipment, ensuring proper ventilation and air quality for patient care areas.

  • 3+ years of professional HVAC Tech experience and knowledge in construction.
  • OSHA 30-hour construction certification.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. work at heights and climb ladders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular maintenance tasks such as changing filters, cleaning coils, and checking system performance.
  • Inspect HVAC systems for wear, tear and efficiency.
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions in HVAC systems; replace faulty components like motors, compressors, and thermostats.
  • Monitor and adjust central air conditioning systems to control indoor environmental conditions for patient care areas.
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams and hospital departments to ensure continuous HVAC operation.

Requirements
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship
  • 3+ years of professional HVAC Tech experience and knowledge in the construction field
  • OSHA 30-hour construction certification
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Work at heights and climb ladders.
  • Work in confined spaces.
  • Work in high temperatures.
  • Work in a noisy environment.
  • Work may involve potential hazardous exposures such as asbestos, machine parts, soot, dirt, grease, chemicals, oil, and fumes.
  • Ability to function safely while wearing a respirator - Work requiring an OSHA-approved respirator and proper fit tested.
  • Standing and bending for long periods of time.
  • Previous experience with the VA is a plus.

What does a typical day look like for the HVAC Tech?
You Will
  • 8:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, Federal Holidays excluded.
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks such as changing filters, cleaning coils, and checking system performance.
  • Inspect HVAC systems for wear and tear and efficiency.
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions in HVAC systems. Replace faulty components like motors, compressors, and thermostats.
  • Monitor and adjust central air conditioning systems to ensure optimal environmental control for patient care areas. Maintain indoor air quality by ensuring proper ventilation and humidity control.
  • Work closely with other maintenance staff and hospital departments to ensure seamless operation of HVAC systems.
