Job summary

TERRESTRIS, LLC seeks a Medical Support Assistant to support the Veteran community in La Junta, Colorado. This full-time role requires strong customer service, basic medical terminology, and data entry skills, with duties including patient check-in, updating demographics, and scheduling support.

What does a typical day look like for the Medical Support Assistant?

You will:

• Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (MST).
• Respond to internal and external customer requests for assistance in a courteous, professional, cooperative, and helpful manner.
• Answer the phone and follow appropriate telephone etiquette. Listen attentively to questions and confirm understanding by restating to the caller. Collect adequate information before transferring a call to nurse, provider, social work, etc.
• Check-in of all patients via Integrated Scheduling Solution (ISS).
• Serve as Patient Relations Representative and actively listen to feedback, patient concerns, and can self-resolve patient complaints/co-worker concerns in a tactful, professional manner.
• Manage and complete assigned work, provide input on work progress and/or impediments, work collaboratively, and maintain efficient workflow.
• Update patient demographics, to include phone number, address, next of kin, emergency contact, and insurance capture.
• Assist in opening and closing clinics daily, updating no-shows within 24 hours of appointment. Monitor incoming and outgoing faxes and mail, in accordance with HIPPA standards.
