Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) invites applications for an HVAC Mechanic II (S) at Murdoch Developmental Center in Butner, NC. The position maintains and services HVAC systems across multiple facilities, performing repairs and preventive maintenance, and installing new equipment as needed.

Qualified candidates will have four years of progressive HVAC experience, strong diagnostic skills, and EPA Type I/II/III or Universal certification.

Qualifications

• 4 years' experience in HVAC systems and equipment, including pneumatic control systems, commercial hydronic air handling equipment, and DDC HVAC control systems.
• Working knowledge of tools.
• Ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions and to prescribe and perform repair procedures.
• Current EPA certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations part 82, subpart F.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and service all HVAC systems for Murdoch Center and satellite facility used for cold storage, the Oxford and Wright Path group homes, and the old ADATC facility consisting of seven buildings.
• Repair and provide preventive maintenance for all Murdoch Center's heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration.
• Install new equipment as required.
• On occasion, assist with maintenance repairs and other types of work for other State agencies.
