Job summary

First Co. in Dallas seeks a Sustaining Engineer - HVAC to support existing products through their lifecycle, ensuring performance, quality, and manufacturability. You will provide daily engineering support to factory operations, drive cost-reduction initiatives, and mentor junior engineers or interns.

You will manage ECNs, BOM updates, supplier qualifications, and documentation while collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet regulatory standards and product goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 2-5 years in sustaining engineering, manufacturing engineering, or HVAC product engineering.
• Lean / Six Sigma Green Belt certification a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support to factory operations and resolve technical issues.
• Drive product improvements, cost reduction, and manufacturability enhancements.
• Manage engineering changes, supplier qualifications, and documentation updates.
• Ensure compliance with HVAC industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers or interns while independently managing small sustaining projects.
• Provide daily engineering support to production and factory operations.
• Manage ECNs, BOM updates, and supplier qualification testing.
• Develop and validate minor design modifications for manufacturability or quality.
• Coordinate with supply chain to qualify alternate suppliers and materials.
• Use structured problem-solving tools (FMEA, RCA, 8D, etc.) to resolve issues.
• Interface with suppliers and factory leadership to address technical challenges.
• Maintain engineering documentation and compliance records.
• Support and guide new hires or interns through mentorship.
