HomeWorks Energy in Massachusetts is seeking an HVAC Start Up Technician I to install, commission, test, and calibrate HVAC systems, ensuring safe operation and compliance with local codes before customers take ownership.

The role involves troubleshooting, documenting performance, coordinating with installation teams, and driving quality and safety throughout the startup process. EPA 608 certification and 1+ year HVAC experience are required; NATE is a plus.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited HVAC training program or apprenticeship is preferred.
• EPA 608 Certification is required.
• NATE certification is a plus.
• 1+ years of hands-on HVAC experience with start-up, commissioning, or installation.
• Strong understanding of HVAC equipment, systems, and control systems.
• Familiarity with diagnostic tools used for HVAC start-ups and troubleshooting.
• Must read/write and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Start-up, calibration, and commissioning of HVAC equipment.
• Test units to verify operation per manufacturer specs and local codes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues using diagnostic tools.
• Commission systems with proper connections and controls.
• Explain system operation and maintenance to customers; document service activities.
• Collaborate with installation teams and project managers to meet deadlines.
• Follow safety guidelines and conduct safety inspections.
• Shadow junior technicians and provide training as needed.
