Job summary

HomeWorks Energy, Inc. seeks an HVAC Start Up Technician I (Apprentice) to install and commission HVAC systems, troubleshoot and calibrate equipment, and ensure safe, compliant operation before clients take ownership.

This full-time, hourly role offers overtime eligibility and performance bonuses in Massachusetts, with multiple warehouse locations and HQ in Charlestown. The position provides hands-on training, clear growth to Service Tech I/II and Service Lead, and a strong benefits package

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited HVAC training program or apprenticeship preferred.
• EPA 608 Certification required for refrigerant handling.
• NATE certification a plus.
• 1+ years of hands-on HVAC experience focused on start-up/commissioning.
• Strong understanding of HVAC equipment, systems and controls.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Start-up, test, and commission HVAC equipment to meet specs and codes.
• Calibrate and troubleshoot systems using diagnostic tools.
• Document performance checks, settings, and repairs with accuracy.
• Collaborate with installation, project managers, and service teams.
• Explain system operation and maintenance to customers.
• Maintain safety guidelines and conduct regular safety checks.
• Shadow junior technicians and participate in on-the-job training.
