Job summary

Socket.dev in Charlotte, NC is seeking an experienced HVAC Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain residential heating and cooling systems on a day-to-day basis. You’ll explain findings clearly to homeowners and present repair options without pressure, delivering quality workmanship and a positive customer experience on every call.

You will participate in on-call rotations, maintain service documentation, and use state-of-the-art diagnostic tools.

Qualifications

  • Five years of residential HVAC service experience requested, but not required.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience servicing a variety of residential HVAC systems and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of electrical components, airflow, controls, and refrigeration.
  • EPA certification preferred.
  • NATE certification, manufacturer training, or additional HVAC credentials are a plus.
  • Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets company requirements.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and ready to be part of a team.
  • Commitment to quality workmanship and doing the right thing.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot residential heating and cooling systems.
  • Repair and maintain air conditioners, heat pumps, gas furnaces, mini-splits, and air handlers.
  • Address airflow, ductwork, zoning, thermostat, control, refrigerant, and indoor air quality concerns.
  • Perform system inspections and preventative maintenance.
  • Identify safety, efficiency, and performance concerns.
  • Clearly explain findings and recommended solutions to homeowners.
  • Present appropriate repair and replacement options without pressure or unnecessary upselling.
  • Deliver a professional, positive customer experience on every call.
  • Maintain accurate service documentation, estimates, and invoices.
  • Communicate with dispatch, management, and other members of the team.
  • Keep your company vehicle clean, organized, and stocked.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation.
  • Follow company safety, quality, and refrigerant-handling standards.
  • Participate in ongoing technical and professional training.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a HVAC Service Technician, you’ll diagnose, repair, and maintain residential heating and cooling systems while helping homeowners understand what is happening, what their options are, and what needs to happen next.
