Job summary

Kelso Building Services is seeking an HVAC Service Supervisor to lead our field service team in Beltsville, MD. You will supervise technicians and apprentices, coach performance, and help recruit and onboard new staff while ensuring safety and high-quality diagnostics in the field.

You will coordinate dispatch, scheduling, and on‑call rotations, monitor progress, and enforce warranty, EPA and OSHA requirements. Focus on building a strong team culture and growing maintenance agreements.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, coach and support a team of HVAC service technicians and apprentices.
• Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring and onboarding new technicians.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance and help troubleshoot difficult diagnostic calls in the field or by phone.
• Organize ongoing training on new equipment, refrigerants, controls and company procedures.
• Set clear performance expectations, give regular feedback and conduct performance reviews.
• Address attendance, conduct and performance issues promptly and fairly.
• Build a positive, accountable team culture and help retain skilled technicians.
• Schedule service calls, maintenance visits and emergencies with dispatch.
• Match technicians to jobs based on skill level, location and workload.
• Manage on-call rotation and after-hours coverage.
• Monitor daily job progress and adjust schedules as needed.
• Perform quality-control inspections and follow up on callbacks.
• Review tickets, notes and invoices for accuracy and compliance.
• Ensure work meets manufacturer specs, company standards and local codes.
• Oversee vehicles, tools and test equipment maintenance and calibration.
• Escalate customer issues and warranty problems as needed.
• Support maintenance agreements and service-plan growth.
• Review quotes and warranty claims within authority limits.
• Build relationships with commercial and property-management accounts.
• Track safety, regulatory compliance and technician licenses.
