Job summary

Walmart is seeking a skilled HVAC/R technician in Albuquerque to install and service commercial refrigeration and building control systems. You will diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues, perform preventive maintenance, and mentor trainees while adhering to safety and EPA refrigerant rules.

The role involves on-site work at multiple facilities, driving a company vehicle, and participating in on-call rotations to support critical needs outside normal hours.

Qualifications

• Option 1: Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field.
• Option 2: 4 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field.
• Hold and maintains Type I and Type II or Universal EPA certification for refrigerant handling.
• HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman where required.
• Valid state driver's license and ability to pass motor vehicle report.
• Commercial driving record with no major violations in the last 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Installs HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork and controls.
• Diagnoses and resolves mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues.
• Performs preventive maintenance to extend equipment life and minimize downtime.
• Leads field teams and mentors apprentices on technical procedures and safety.
• Maintains refrigeration units and building energy management systems.
• Accounts for refrigerant handling per EPA requirements and documents usage.
• Coordinates service calls and communicates with customers about outcomes.
